Millenials - weird experiment in human history

Kei is one of them. Kei grew up without internet. In a no-digital environment. It is actually impossible to imagine for most of us.

Back then when they made an appointment after school — meeting up by the tree — there was no reason they could change their plans. If they said they would meet at the tree, they would meet at the tree, everyone knew which tree and remember what time. They took pictures with analog cameras. They waited an entire week for the next episode of a series they loved. They wrote by hand and read books. Once a week, they had an IT lesson at school, where they were introduced to computers—often through games—and learned what email was and how to create an account. They were also learning how to type fast, because computers were becoming the main “tools” for writing.

Then, almost suddenly, the world they knew began to change.

When Kei started studying and working, they had to learn how to use computers quickly—not as an optional skill, but as a necessity. Technology was changing faster than anyone could fully process. The transition happened in front of their eyes: from carrying money in their pockets to paying with a watch; from losing access forever to an email account created in 2002 to living in a world where passwords are encrypted and stored in digital systems.

They experienced something that those who grew up online never did: the before and the after.

This is what shaped Kei.

Kei and his Art Projects

Kei survived the catastrophe - when you say it in his presence, he always corrects you and says catastropheS with big "S" at the end. Because he says - there were many.

His art practice has developed through all those years. He says that he is "a painter, but he changes the tools". This is what made him big and this is what he proved me when I visited him in his habitat on Mars.

What does it mean to make art from a place where almost everything around you is artificial? - I asked him.

“It is a great source of inspiration for me, as good as my memories. I am very happy to experience my life in T-City as an artist. My lifestyle was never very balanced. Now we spend most of our time in our habitats. This is what I have always done in my atelier on Earth. I spent months creating and then months enjoying my life. I think that, at my age, living here is a true blessing. More routine, more balance, everything is optimized. This is my dream, this is my fantasy.” he said.

He continued with some melancholy: “I miss a lot of the things I collected on Earth. I miss my box of ideas - everything written on scraps of paper. My wardrobes full of clothes and accessories. I liked my wigs and watches."

Are we going to see your art in Momars?

"Yeah, I think so. I am not sure what your brought up here to Mars, but whatever you have, it should be good enough to show to the public. I was chosen in this interesting program you had. Artist with recognition could apply with the offer of selling everything they have created, and you simply offered habitat (with atelier space) and contract with Momars." - Kei Inni answered.

"I think it is a great deal. The best deal I have ever had. I am looking forward to openings, giving talks and meeting my audience. I hope that some of you still remember me from Earth."

Meeting somebody like Kei is very inspiring. We will inform you about his next exhibition in Momars.
